From the Heart of Rural Maharashtra to the International Stage: A Celebration of Culture, Talent, and Determination
In a moment of immense pride for the Nanded district, the dance troupe of SSM’s Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji High School, Sagroli, has made history by winning the National Cultural Dance Competition held in Nagpur and is now set to represent India at the International Dance Competition in Goa, scheduled from June 2 to 5, 2025.

Triumph in Nagpur: Showcasing Lambadi Folk Dance held at the iconic Kavivarya Suresh Bhat Cultural Hall on April 28–29, this national-level event witnessed participation from top-performing school dance troupes across the country. Each group showcased its region’s vibrant cultural heritage through traditional dance forms.
Among them, the Sagroli troupe stood out with their spellbinding performance of the ‘Lambadi’ dance, a tribal folk art native to the Banjara community. The performance featured vibrant costumes, rhythmic footwork, and an authentic portrayal of tribal tradition. It earned them First Place in the Small Group Category and widespread acclaim from both judges and audiences.

Behind the Success: Visionary Education at SSM Sagroli, Victory is a powerful reflection of SSM’s commitment to holistic education. The school’s innovative policy, “One Student: One Hobby – One Skill,” encourages every student to explore and develop a unique talent in fields such as arts, music, sports, and craft, ensuring learning extends far beyond academics.
Under the mentorship of dedicated faculty and leadership, this initiative is helping transform the rural education landscape. Just last year, students from the school participated in the National Mallakhamb Championship, adding yet another feather to their cap.

Building Pride, Celebrating Roots: Months of rigorous training, community support, and an unwavering sense of cultural pride have paved the way for this international recognition. The dance troupe’s journey from the dusty fields of Sagroli to the shining lights of Goa’s international stage is a testament to the power of dedication and opportunity.
This win is not just a milestone for the school; it’s a symbol of what rural India can achieve when talent is nurtured with vision and purpose.

A Village Cheers, A Nation Watches: As the young dancers prepare for their international debut, excitement pulses throughout the village of Sagroli. Teachers, peers, families, and local leaders are rallying behind the team, offering them every ounce of encouragement and pride.
