SSM’s Heartfelt Tribute to Shri Ramesh Kacholia (“Uncle”)
With profound sorrow and a deep sense of gratitude, the entire family of Sanskriti Samvardhan Mandal (SSM), Sagroli mourns the passing of Shri Ramesh Kacholia, affectionately known across the social sector as “Uncle.” His demise marks the end of an extraordinary chapter in Indian philanthropy, but his legacy of compassion, trust, and institution-building will continue to inspire generations.
Our association with Uncle began in 2014, when he first visited the SSM campus at Sagroli. What began as a visit soon blossomed into a relationship built on mutual trust, shared values, and a common vision for transforming rural lives. He saw in SSM not merely an institution, but a movement dedicated to creating opportunities for rural children, farmers, women, and communities through education and sustainable development.
Uncle believed that strong institutions create lasting change. His faith in SSM was expressed not only through words of encouragement but through steadfast support that transformed the physical and developmental landscape of our campus.
Through the generous network of Caring Friends, which he nurtured with immense dedication, Shri Ramesh Kacholia helped mobilize support for several landmark infrastructure projects that have become integral to the daily lives of our students and staff. These include the redevelopment of the Staff Colony, providing improved residential facilities for nearly 100 staff families; the construction of Gurunath Bhavan, a modern dining hall serving more than 1,000 students every day; the redevelopment of the Technical School Building, strengthening vocational and skill-based education; and the construction of a new Girls’ Hostel accommodating 120 young girls, creating a safe and nurturing environment that enables rural girls to pursue their education with dignity and confidence.
His vision extended well beyond the boundaries of our campus. Understanding the critical importance of water security for rural communities, Uncle extended his support to desilting lakes and water-storage structures across Nanded district. These initiatives enhanced water conservation, strengthened agricultural resilience, and improved the livelihoods of countless farming families. His commitment reflected his belief that true development must address both human potential and natural resources. We proudly say that many projects are run by SSM are supported and guided by uncle
One of Uncle’s greatest strengths was his ability to build bridges between people and institutions. He constantly connected SSM with individuals and organizations that shared a commitment to meaningful social change. Among his invaluable contributions was introducing DRISHTI as a long-term development partner, opening new avenues for institutional learning, capacity building, and sustainable growth. Through many such connections, he helped SSM become part of a larger ecosystem of committed philanthropists, development professionals, and organizations working collectively for rural transformation.
What made Uncle truly exceptional was not merely his generosity, but the trust with which he empowered institutions. He never measured success by the size of a donation, but by the lives transformed, the institutions strengthened, and the communities empowered. He inspired us to dream bigger, work with integrity, remain accountable, and always keep the welfare of the most vulnerable at the heart of our mission.
Thousands of students who study in better classrooms, girls who now have a safe hostel to call home, staff families living with improved dignity, farmers benefiting from restored water resources, and communities touched by SSM’s expanding work are all, in many ways, living testimonies to Uncle’s vision. His contributions have become part of the very foundation upon which our institution continues to grow.
On behalf of our Chairman Shri Pramod Deshmukh, the Governing Council, staff, students, alumni, beneficiaries, and the entire SSM family, we offer our heartfelt condolences to Uncle’s family and to the extended Caring Friends community. We share in their grief and express our deepest gratitude for a life dedicated to strengthening people, institutions, and society.
While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate an extraordinary life lived with purpose, humility, and unwavering compassion. Shri Ramesh Kacholia taught us that philanthropy is not merely about giving—it is about believing in people and enabling them to create lasting change.
His footprints will forever remain etched across the campus of Sanskriti Samvardhan Mandal and in the hearts of everyone whose lives he touched.
