Pramod Deshmukh, re-elected as Chairman of ‘AFARM’

Pramod Deshmukh, the chairman of the SSM Sagroli and Jal Nayak of Maharashtra State, has been re-elected unopposed as the President of AFARM, (Action for Agricultural Renewal in Maharashtra) Pune, the apex body of NGOs in the state. In the 51st Annual General Meeting of Afarm held at Pune on Wednesday (29th), Hon. Pramod Deshmukh was unanimously re-elected as the chairman of AFARM. On this occasion, representatives of more than hundred NGOs of the state were present.
Taking note of frequent droughts in Maharashtra, national and international experts jointly established AFARM in the year 1968. AFARM started its work with the help of a voluntary organization in the state with the subject of agriculture, water and rural development. Hundreds of organizations in the state are members of AFARM. After every five years the Executive Board of AFARM is elected. Pramod Deshmukh was elected as the President in the year 2018. A general meeting was held recently due to the end of the tenure. The representatives of the organization present on this occasion unanimously re-elected Pramod Deshmukh.
SSM has been working for rural development through education, health, agriculture, environment, water conservation, women empowerment etc. for the past 60 years. SSM has been a member organization of AFARM for the last 35 years. In the last five years, Pramod Deshmukh visited and guided hundreds of small and large organizations in every corner of Maharashtra.
