Promoting Millets and Toxin-Free Farming Through Expert Guidance
Millets like sorghum, bajri, ragi, and amaranth offer many health benefits and can be disease-resistant when incorporated into daily diets. Recognising the significance of these ancient grains, a one-day agricultural summit was organised on August 20th at Sagroli in celebration of the International Year of Millets.
This event, facilitated by the Marathwada Muktisangram Amritmahotsav Samiti Devagiri Province, the Atma Agriculture Department, and the Agricultural Science Center, Sagroli, in collaboration with various stakeholders, aimed to shed light on the importance of millets and toxin-free farming practices.
Before the summit, an exhibition showcasing various organic farm produce and millet-based products was inaugurated by distinguished guests. The event witnessed the presence of prominent figures, including Justice Ambadasrao Joshi (Lokayukta Goa), Vilasanna Dahibate, Village Development Coordinator of Devagiri Province, Bhausaheb Berhate, District Superintendent Agriculture Officer, and other respected individuals.
Mr. Dinesh Kulkarni, in his keynote address, emphasised the role of millet in promoting a healthier India. Dr. Indramani Mishra, Vice Chancellor of Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University, conveyed his insights through audio-visual means. Justice Ambadas Joshi advocated cultivating and preserving millets, especially during intermittent rains. The event also featured informative sessions by Sanjay Patil on nutritional grains in Maharashtra and Mahesh Londhe on millet features, products, processing, technology, and market dynamics.
