SKILL DEVELOPMENT

During our golden jubilee year, a survey revealed that rural youths lacked the essential skills for sustainable livelihoods, impacting their confidence and leading to odd jobs. In response, we established Utkarsh Vocational Training Centre (Now Udyamita Skill Development Centre) in 2009, providing need-based skill development programs that are accessible and self-sustaining. Starting with a few courses, we witnessed significant demand and expanded to offer a wide range of Skill and entrepreneurship development programs. Today, we have strong partnerships with renowned companies and cater to 3000 youths annually. To reach even more youth, we have dedicated a separate skilling facility catering to about 5000 youths in the coming years, ensuring that more young lives can be transformed through education and opportunity.

TECHNICAL SKILL

Udyamita Skill Development Centre focuses on equipping rural youths with technical skills in Farm and Non-Farm sectors in high demand in various industries. We offer diverse courses, including plumbing, tailoring, food processing, motor winding, and specialised farm sector skills. By introducing courses tailored to the agricultural sector, we have witnessed a doubling in enrolments, reflecting the youth’s interest in this field. Our technical programs are designed to provide hands-on training and practical knowledge, ensuring that our students are well-prepared for the workforce.

WORKPLACE SKILLS

In addition to technical skills, we recognise the importance of developing soft workplace skills in our students. Through our comprehensive programs, we emphasise the development of interpersonal communication, marketing, and sales techniques. These skills are crucial for our students to effectively collaborate, communicate, and succeed in their chosen careers. By fostering a positive and confident approach, we empower our students to excel in the workplace and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

DIGITAL LITERACY

In today’s digital age, youths need to have proficiency in computer literacy and digital technologies. At Udyamita SDC, we ensure students gain digital literacy skills to navigate the modern workforce. Our programs include training in basic computer skills, social media literacy, and digital tools for various tasks. Equipping our students with these digital competencies enhances their employability and empowers them to adapt to the ever-evolving digital landscape.

ENTREPRENUERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Recognising the potential for entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector, we offer specialised courses in entrepreneurship development. These programs give aspiring entrepreneurs the necessary knowledge and skills to establish and manage successful agrarian businesses. Through practical training, mentorship, and access to resources, we support our students in realising their entrepreneurial dreams and becoming self-employed contributors to their local economies.

PARTNERSHIPS & PLACEMENTS

Udyamita Skill Development Centre has established strong partnerships with renowned companies, organisations, and institutions. We collaborate with companies like Bluestar and Galaxy Surfactants Ltd. and organisations like NABARD and Syngenta Foundation to develop skill programs and facilities that align with industry requirements. These partnerships enable us to provide our students with valuable internship opportunities and job placements. We take pride in our high placement rate, with approximately 70% of our students securing positions in reputable firms or freelancing and an additional 20% starting their ventures and earning sustainable livelihoods.

Plumbing the Depths of Success: Rural Skill Development Transforms Lives in Sagroli

Sanskriti Samvardhan Mandal’s (SSM) Udyamita Skill Development Centre, formerly known as Utkarsh Skill Development Centre, has been transforming the lives of rural youth since its establishment in 2009. In an inspiring collaboration with Blue Star India Limited, they established a Plumbing Training Center in Sagroli on September 4th, 2019.

Among the success stories that have emerged from the Udyamita SDC, Kantale Omkar Digambar, a native of Sagroli, stands out. Kantale, after completing his ITI up to 12th grade, found limited benefits from his education and struggled to secure steady employment.He resorted to odd jobs within the village, such as part-time agricultural work, tractor maintenance, and even at SSM’s dairy.

When Kantale learned about the plumbing course offered by the Udyamita SDC, he immediately seized the opportunity and enrolled. From October to December 2021, he underwent intensive plumbing training, supplemented by 15 days of practical experience at a Blue Star Company site in Hyderabad. Equipped with this valuable hands-on experience, Kantale embarked on his journey as a plumber in Sagroli village and its surrounding areas.

Kantale’s transformation has been remarkable. Not only has he secured a steady income of 15-20k per month, but his standard of living has also improved. Additionally, he has also been able to provide employment to two or three individuals in the community. Through his work, Kantale has demonstrated the importance of skills development, punctuality, and effective budgeting, all of which have contributed to his success.

The plumbing training centre established by Udyamita SDC holds a unique position in rural skill development. It is the only course that offers practical plumbing experience and imparts knowledge in a short period, catering specifically to the needs of rural youth. This initiative has proven to be a resounding success, benefiting numerous individuals like Kantale and empowering them to become self-sufficient and contribute to their communities.
